We made a non-stop trip to Palestine to present the Trio Joubran,
consisting of the brothers Samir, Wissam and Adnan, who play Arabic jazz. Then we hear Sferraina, son to sleep, with Tembembe
Ensamble Continuo, a jarocho group of musicians who plays baroque music.
Its members are Leopoldo Novoa, Enrique
Barona and Eloy Cruz, they studied musical institutions in Mexico, Colombia,
United States and France. The third
music position was the New York group specialist in downtempo and
electronic music Si Sé , with two songs: Hawaii Slip and Rain. To
finish this segment dancing, Godo played We are the champions by Pery
Ribeiro, a Brazilian singer and composer who died in Rio de Janeiro on February
24th, 2012. Continuing in Brazil, we played Os Ingenuos’s choro, a musical
genre considered the first Brazilian urban music. To finish in Brazil we presented the jazz singer
and pianist: Maria Joao and the pianist from the same genre: Mario Laghinia.
Una novia vestida de rojo is a song of the music group from Clejani commune, Giurgiu district in
Romania, Taraf de Haïdouks, one of the most famous groups of the post-communist
era, we started a second segment with the group: Etta James and the soong “Queen of the rhythm&blues”. We continued with the black roots and one of the best drummers from West
Africa, Mamady. And we closed with La danza del prisionero Muzeze by Engbaka Muzeze Philippe and Aketi.
Because the local is part of this, we listened Maqueta, a project by Marisol Valdez Hamed, singer of “folk intimo" from
Mexicali, Baja California. Maqueta (as says their official
website) is the resolution of the creative limbo in which she was immersed for
years practicing professionally as a programmer. Chimera
was the song we hear from the singer from Mexicali, who performs his music with
an ukulele, guitar and keyboard. Then
we had, El Cielito Lindo, with the Trio Armonia Huasteca. Then we enjoyed
El Cartero, sang by Victor
Jara; a musician, songwriter and Chilean theater director, and who was
tortured and murdered in the antique Victor Jara Stadium in Chile in 1973 by repression
forces of the dictatorship by Augusto Pinochet, shortly after the coup that
overthrew the government of Salvador Allende. To finish with another less
introspective mood, we listened the Colombian cumbia; El Cafetero.
We said goodbye with a
music transmission, as it is the purpose of this program, which came from
various corners of the world. From Mali we
listened to Fady Yeina, by the musician Baba Salah, who has clear Music
of the Desert and the Malian assets roots. We also listened by Mali, Ihama
by Kel Tin Lokiene. From France to the jazz music fusionists of the 30s with
contemporary music: Sanseverino. And finally we enjoyed the song Tawargit,
by the music group Aza, who perform electronic music and Middle Eastern music.
